WASHINGTON - As part of their widespread effort to slash tens of billions of dollars in government spending, Republicans in the House of Representatives proposed Wednesday a $60 million cut in funding for Legal Services Corp., the quasi-governmental group that distributes federal grants to local nonprofits.
