State Bar to Change Leadership Structure

With Sacramento claiming the State Bar protects lawyers at the expense of the public, the bar is yet again examining how it governs itself. The question is, why does this keep happening?

Early next week, the president of the State Bar will put forth his plan for reorganizing the bar itself.


President William N. Hebert's options range from minor tinkering with how lawyers elect the bar's Board of Governors to a major restructuring that would hand regulation of lawyers over to a state agency run by political appointees.
