Services to Be Held for Judge W. James Turpit

Retired Los Angeles Superior Court Judge W. James (Jim) Turpit died Wednesday at his home in Corona del Mar. He was 85. Raised in Hastings, Neb., Turpit received his bachelor of arts from Duke University in 1937 and his law degree from the University of Nebraska School of Law in 1939. He then served in World War II as a Navy f irst l ieutenant, piloting planes in the Aleutian Islands.
