California group seeks to rid state of 'grossly ineffective' teachers

Students Matter, a non-profit education reform group, is suing the state and several school districts over allegations that statutory protections for teachers violate students' equal protection rights.

Earlier this year, a nonprofit founded and bankrolled by a wealthy Silicon Valley executive filed a lawsuit seeking to reform a critical part of the California education system.


The group, Students Matter, states on its website that it aims "to advance the recruitment, support and retention of effective teachers."
