An appellate court sided this week with lawyers allegedly jilted in a fee-sharing agreement in a decision that could have broad implications for such arrangements.
Because of the ruling, plaintiffs lawyers who won a $41.5 million settlement in a business-litigation case could have to pay one-third of their attorney fees to a law firm that claims they violated a fee-splitting agreement.
