Senate confirms Central District appointment

The U.S. Senate on Tuesday confirmed Jesus G. Bernal to serve as a U.S. District Court judge in the Central District, filling a judicial vacancy that had been open since 2009.

The U.S. Senate on Tuesday confirmed Jesus G. Bernal to serve as a U.S. District Court judge in the Central District, filling a judicial vacancy that had been open since 2009.

Bernal, 49, was confirmed by voice vote, meaning no senator raised any objection to his selection. He will sit in Riverside, becoming the only Latino federal judge serving in the district's Eastern Division, which includes Riverside and San Bernardi...
