Orange County jury awards $10 million in wrongful death case

An Orange County jury awarded the parents of Kevin Cisler $10 million after school employees failed to properly secure him on a school bus and he was strangled to death by his wheelchair chest harness.

An Orange County jury on Friday awarded Melissa and Daniel Cisler $10 million from the Capistrano Unified School District for the wrongful death of their 3-year-old son Kevin.


Kevin suffered from Angelman Syndrome, a genetic disorder that causes developmental disabilities and neurological problems such as difficulty speaking, balancing and walking, as well as seizures.
