California's same-sex marriage ban, Proposition 8, and the federal Defense of Marriage Act will both get U.S. Supreme Court scrutiny, the high court announced Friday.
The decision means that gay marriages cannot take place in California until the high court issues its ruling, likely next June. Hollingsworth v. Perry, 12-144, and Windsor v. U.S., 12-307.
