Courts bracing for $600 million hit to construction projects

Justice Brad Hill of the 5th District Court of Appeals plans to ask members of a working group on courthouse construction to prepare for about $600 million in cuts to other courthouse projects in order to pay for the Long Beach courthouse.

SACRAMENTO - After suspending seven courthouse projects and working for weeks to shrink budgets for others, the judicial branch's courthouse building program is now preparing to take a $600 million hit that at least one official said will "devastate" court construction throughout the state.
