State's first black female public defender turning tide of troubled San Bernardino County office

Lawyers who work with San Bernardino County Public Defender Phyllis Morris said she's managed improve morale and management of an office that saw three previous public defenders resign amid controversy.

When San Bernardino County Public Defender Phyllis Morris speaks about her now permanent role as the lead defender for the county's accused, she downplays the significance of the glass ceilings she's broken through.
