Shearman & Sterling: French Banking Giant Buys TCW Group in Los Angeles

SG Asset Management, a wholly-owned subsidiary of French banking giant Societe Generale Group, is buying 70 percent of Los Angeles-based investment firm The TCW Group Inc. TCW employees retain ownership of the remaining 30 percent.
