Neighborhood Legal Services holds Awards Ceremony

Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles held its 7th annual Just Neighbors event on Oct. 13 at the Autry National Center of the American West in Griffith Park. More than 300 friends and supporters gathered to honor this years awardees including civil rights leader and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient Dolores Huerta, who received the Leadership Award, and Assemblymember Mike Eng, who was presented with the Legal Excellence Award. This year’s Community Service Award recipient was The Community Action League, a grassroots group and NLSLA’s organizational plaintiff in a lawsuit that led to reforms in the administration of the Section 8 program across L.A. County.
