California Rural Legal Assistance Inc, honors Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi LLP
California Rural Legal Assistance Inc. held an awards ceremony last Saturday and honored the law firm of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi LLP for its commitment to social justice and the rural poor in the state. The organization that provides legal aid to isolated communities across the state held its “Tardeada” at the home of attorneys Dolores Leal and Tomas Olmos, partners at Allred, Moroko & Goldberg. David Martinez, a partner at Robins Kaplan, accepted the Ambassador for Justice Award on behalf of the firm. Martinez has been intimately involved with the organization for close to a decade and has spent the last five years as a board member. He said Robins Kaplan has supported his work with the organization as well as the organization itself. “It’s far from being just a financial relationship,” he said. “It’s much, much more than that. We’re very proud of our relationship because of the work they do for the most disenfranchised individuals in the state.” The legal aid organization has been in existence since the mid 1960s and has 21 offices in small, rural towns around California. It focuses on helping those communities, which often have little access to legal representation, with a wide variety of cases including labor litigation, civil rights and housing. - Henry Meier
