Fenwick & West LLP celebrates 40th anniversary

Lawyers, clients and friends of the firm gathered at Fenwick & West LLP’s headquarters in Mountain View last week to celebrate the firm’s 40th anniversary. One of the firm’s founders, William A. Fenwick, was in attendance, as were longtime Chairman Gordon K. Davidson and Managing Partner Kathryn J. Fritz. The firm has been known since its inception for its representation of Silicon Valley’s technology companies. Over the years, its lawyers have incorporated Apple Inc., taken Oracle Corp. public and married VeriSign Inc. and Network Solutions Inc. for roughly $20 billion in one of the largest technology mergers in history. More recently, lawyers at the firm -- including Chairman Davidson and corporate partner Jeffrey R. Vetter -- represented Facebook Inc. in its initial public offering. Several hundred people were in attendance at the Sept. 20 party, which filled the firm’s first-floor lobby and hall and extended into its spacious upstairs corridors and meeting spaces. - Jill Patton
