Kennedy Named as Liaison to 9th Circuit
From Staff Reports - Associate Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, as expected, will be the U.S. Supreme Court's new liaison to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, the high court announced Wednesday. He succeeds Associate Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, who is retiring. As liaison, Kennedy will be responsible for handling emergency applications from the circuit - requests that can range from stays of executions to appeals for more time to file briefs.
