Gang Trial Results in Life Sentence

A street gang member was sentenced to life in prison Friday after a months-long delay in which his attorneys tried to win him a new trial based on the recent scandal at the San Francisco Police Department crime laboratory.

SAN FRANCISCO - Dennis Cyrus Jr., a street gang member whose death penalty trial was the first in the Northern District in decades, was sentenced Friday to life in prison without the possibility of release after a months-long delay in which his attorneys tried to win him a new trial based on the recent scandal at the San Francisco Police Department crime laboratory.
