SD Mayor Recruits Local Land-Use Lawyer for New Position

San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders appointed local land-use attorney Donna Jones to serve on the Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC) Board of Directors. According to a press release from the CCDC, her appointment (along with an additional member chosen by the City Council) will expand the board from seven to nine members, in an effort to provide greater accountability within the organization. This isn?t the first time Sanders tapped Jones for a position-he previously designated her to serve on the Downtown Implementing Committee, which monitors the progress of the Downtown Community Plan. Jones has practiced land-use law as a partner with Sheppard-Mullin for nearly 20 years, specializing in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act. She is on the Board of Directors for the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, and is vice chair of the Chamber?s Public Policy Committee. She has also co-chaired the San Diego County Bar Association?s Land Use and Environmental Law section.
