Tobacco Company Must Pay Fine of $14 Million
RIVERSIDE - A state appellate court let stand a $14 million fine against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. on Thursday, holding that the firm unlawfully distributed 108,000 free packs of cigarettes to people who attended a series of private events on public property around the state in 1999.
