Ashcroft Must Name Counsel To Investigate Leak of Name
Forum Column By Marjorie Cohn It defies logic to think that an administration as secretive as George W. Bush's would conduct a fair and thorough investigation of the White House to determine who leaked the name of the undercover CIA agent. Attorney General John Ashcroft, who has close personal and political ties to the White House, should immediately appoint an independent counsel to fully investigate and prosecute the perpetrators.
