Requiring Free Credit Reports Won't Create Unlawful Taking
Forum Column By Dilan Esper Professor Douglas W. Kmiec, in his article "Credit Act Changes Don't Add Up: Unlawful Takings Issues in Proposed Amendments Could Cause Substantial Liability for America," (Forum, Oct. 16) couldn't be more wrong when he argues that a bill that would require credit reporting agencies to provide a free credit report to consumers every year so that they can correct errors on the reports would constitute an unconstitutional taking of private property for public use
