Judge tosses suit seeking tougher drilling, fracking controls

Claims brought by environmentalists that the state failed to properly look at the harms posed by Bakersfield-based Aera Energy LLC's plan to drill more than 200 wells in the area dismissed.

A superior court has tossed a lawsuit filed by environmentalists seeking tougher controls on oil drilling and fracking in California, dismissing claims that the state failed to properly look at the harms posed by Bakersfield-based Aera Energy LLC's plan to drill more than 200 wells in the area.
