9th Circuit affirms fee denial to McGuireWoods in BAR/BRI lawsuit

McGuireWoods LLP - the firm that helped secure a $49 million settlement with West Publishing Co., former parent of Bar/Bri, and with Kaplan Inc. - will not receive attorney fees for its work, the 9th Circuit ruled Friday.

A long-running and contentious antitrust case involving two companies providing bar exam review and LSAT preparation courses may finally be over.


And McGuireWoods LLP, which helped secure a $49 million class-action settlement with West Publishing Co., former parent of BAR/BRI, and with Kaplan Inc., very likely will not be paid for most of its work.
