The State Bar reported Friday that 1,700 people passed the February bar exam, or 35.7 percent of the 4,758 applicants who took the test.
Preliminary statistical analyses show that nearly a third of the applicants were first-time takers, and that the passing rate for those 1,395 people was 45 percent overall, the bar said in a statement posted on its web site.
