Bush Ends ABA's Role Rating Judicial Nominees

LOS ANGELES - President Bush on Thursday ended the American Bar Association's historic and leading role rating potential nominees for the federal bench. In letters to the ABA and Senate Democrats, White House Counsel Alberto R. Gonzales said Bush, unlike previous presidents, would not tell the association in advance who he is considering for the bench or allow it to evaluate the candidates before their nominations.
