Court Restricts Drug-Test Use In Pregnancy
LOS ANGELES - State hospitals cannot drug-test pregnant women without consent and give the results to the police, the U.S. Supreme Court said Wednesday. In a 6-3 decision, the high court rejected the Medical University of South Carolina's claim that the "special needs" of newborn babies vitiate the Fourth Amendment's protection against unlawful search and seizure.
