Southern District Bench Must Add Asian-Pacific Islanders
On Oct. 30, 2000, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California declared a judicial emergency, citing a caseload more than twice the size of caseloads in comparable districts. To resolve the crisis, Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer have joined congressional Reps. Randy "Duke" Cunningham and Susan Davis and others in co-sponsoring legislation to add eight new judgeships to the Southern District bench.
