Judge overturns Oracle's verdict against SAP

An Oakland federal judge overturned Oracle Corp.'s $1.3 billion verdict against rival SAP AG on Thursday, saying the Redwood Shores company's damages theory was too speculative.

Calling Oracle Corp.'s demands in a copyright infringement trial "speculative," an Oakland federal judge on Thursday tossed out a $1.3 billion jury award against German business software rival SAP AG over software downloaded and copied by a now-defunct subsidiary.
