Prosecutors sue firms over bank lawsuits

In one of the most coordinated actions of its kind since the foreclosure crisis, prosecutors made a wide sweep this week of law firms they say got rich by duping desperate homeowners.

State prosecutors made a wide sweep this week of law firms they say got rich by duping desperate homeowners into paying to join dead-end bank lawsuits, seizing $7.5 million in assets and taking over the businesses.


Attorney General Kamala Harris and the State Bar sued three Southern California law firms for allegedly defrauding thousands of homeowners out of millions of dollars.
