The federal government gave the green light to another massive solar farm in California Wednesday, marking a major step toward the transformation of the state's desert into an energy mecca.

The federal government gave the green light to another massive solar farm in California Wednesday, marking a major step toward the transformation of the state's desert into an energy mecca.


The Desert Sunlight Solar Farm will be one of the largest solar facilities in the state, generating 550 megawatts of power in the Mojave Desert east of Palm Springs.
