Jurist Pledges Recall Ruling by Wednesday

LOS ANGELES - A Los Angeles federal judge has promised to rule by Wednesday on whether California voters can proceed with an Oct. 7 gubernatorial-recall election using the outdated punch-card balloting system or, alternatively, grant the parties an immediate trial.
