Yahoo Acquires Paid-Search Firm

Sunnyvale-based Yahoo has agreed to buy Internet search company Overture Services Inc. for $1.6 billion in cash and stock. The deal heats up the rivalry in the paid Internet search business, where Google Inc. has become an increasingly powerful competitor.
