Kenyan consular official files countersuit against former domestic worker

Experts said counterclaims against are a common legal tactic in cases filed against foreign consular employees by the domestic workers who come with them from their home countries.

A Kenyan consular official in Los Angeles countersued her former domestic worker Tuesday after being hit with claims over unpaid wages, saying the in-home cook and au pair stole from her and emotionally abused her and her child.


The official, Angela S. Kasaine, also claimed diplomatic immunity from her employee's original claims that she had not been properly paid.
