Wrongly convicted men recommended for large compensation awards

A state compensation board Thursday granted Francisco "Franky" Carrillo more than $600,000 for the two decades he spent behind bars after being wrongly convicted of murder when he was a teenager.

A state compensation board Thursday granted Francisco "Franky" Carrillo more than $600,000 for the two decades he spent behind bars after being wrongly convicted of murder when he was a teenager.


The compensation recommendation, made by the the California Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board, now goes to the Legislature and Gov. Jerry Brown for final approval.
