Snapchat settles with FTC over privacy complaint

The Los Angeles-based messaging application's agreement reached Thursday reflects the agency's increasingly aggressive crackdown on privacy issues in recent years, attorneys say.

In a settlement Thursday with the Federal Trade Commission, mobile messaging service Snapchat Inc. - under fire for its claims of full-proof privacy - agreed to launch a comprehensive privacy program that will be independently monitored for 20 years.


The move was a clear sign of the agency's increasingly aggressive crackdown on privacy issues, attorneys said.
