Southwestern Law hosts reunion, silent auction
Southwestern Law School alumni and members of the legal community gathered on April 24 for the law school's 26th annual Awards Recognition Reception and Silent Auction. Four individuals were honored at the event, hosted by the Southwestern Alumni Association, for their service to the law school, community and legal profession. Steven P. Byrne of Monrovia-based Byrne & Associates received the Alumnus of the Year award, while Sandra L. Margulies, acting presiding justice of the 1st District Court of Appeal and a 1977 alumna, received the Outstanding Judicial Officer award. Additionally, the school honored Austen L. Parrish, Indiana University Maurer School of Law dean who formerly served as Southwestern's interim dean, as its Outstanding Friend, and awarded Jana Waring Greer, president and CEO of the individual and group retirement division at American International Group Inc. and a former member of Southwestern's Board of Trustees, with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree. The event also hosted a silent auction to raise proceeds for the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund and served as a reunion for nine of the school's graduated classes. — Kylie Reynolds
