Bar group lauds top volunteers
The Justice & Diversity Center of The Bar Association of San Francisco celebrated the top 15 percent of its volunteers at the organization's annual Appreciation Celebration. The group gave special recognition to four individuals and a law firm at the April 17 event, which drew more than 200 attendees. The center honored Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass LLP with its Outstanding Law Firm in Public Service Award. Christopher F. Emley and Don Emley, of the Emley Law Office in San Francisco, received the James P. Preovolos Award, which recognizes outstanding pro bono services in family law. Rudy Balderama of the Balderama Law Firm in Hayward took home the Housing Justice Award, and Noemi Gonzalez won the Community Service Award. State Supreme Court Justice Carol A. Corrigan, a guest of honor at the event, gave inspirational remarks and greeted the awardees at the event. — Ben Adlin
