SACRAMENTO ? Gov. Jerry Brown nominated U.S. Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Los Angeles, on Thursday as California's next attorney general.
Assuming he is confirmed by the state Legislature, where fellow Democrats hold supermajorities in both houses, Becerra will succeed Kamala D. Harris, who won a seat in the U.S. Senate on Nov. 8.
