BP to pay $14 million to settle fuel storage mismanagement allegations

Nine district attorneys and the attorney general's office brought suit in 2006 against BP subsidiaries.

BP PLC has agreed to pay the state and several counties about $14 million to resolve a lawsuit alleging that the gas station owner improperly maintained nearly 800 underground fuel storage tanks for a decade.

BP has denied the allegations and admits no wrongdoing pursuant to the settlement, which is subject to approval by Alameda County Superior Court. People v. BP West...
