Sirius XM strikes settlement with pre-1972 song owners

The settlement is nationwide but allows appeals to continue, according to Sirius XM's attorney.

Members of the 1960s band The Turtles and Sirius XM Radio Inc. reached a settlement Monday, a day before a jury trial to determine damages owed to pre-1972 song owners was set to begin.

No details of the settlement were included in a joint notice filed Monday, though it notes that a motion for preliminary approval of the settlement would be filed before Dec. 5.
