Child Will Remain in U.S. Temporarily

A federal judge Monday rejected immigration officials' attempt to maintain custody over a 3-year-old, HIV-infected Thai boy. Instead, Judge Dickran Tevrizian issued a preliminary injunction to keep Phanupong Khaisri in the United States pending a "full and fair hearing" to determine whether he should be granted political asylum to remain here - or be sent back to Thailand.
