Fenwick & West: MOUNTAIN VIEW'S HANDSPRING GOES PUBLIC WITH OFFERING

Handspring Inc. went public in late June in a stock offering valued at about $200 million. The founders of the Mountain View-based company, Jeff Hawkins and Donna Dubinsky, co-founded Palm Computing (now a 3Com company), where they invented the company's flagship product, the PalmPilot. Hawkins and Dubinsky started Palm in 1994, only to leave the company a couple years later to form the competition, Handspring.
