The major aim of the bill is to allow African countries to expand their economies through growth in trade with the United States.
The "Africa-CBI Bill" was signed into law on May 18 (Pub. L. No. 106-200) and provides for duty and quota-free treatment for selected textile products from eligible countries effective Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, 2008.
