Retired Litigator Richard B. Goethals Sr. Dead at 76
Retired trial attorney Richard Bernard Goethals Sr. died Monday in Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach following a lengthy illness. He was 76. Goethals, a former deputy public defender, practiced law with Los Angeles' Schell & Delamer from 1960 to 1986. During that time, Goethals served as the firm's managing partner and represented such clients as Texaco Inc. during the Santa Barbara oil spill litigation of the 1970s.
