Senate committee approves Fitzgerald

White-collar defense attorney Michael W. Fitzgerald sailed through the Senate Judiciary Committee on a voice vote Thursday, putting him one step away from joining the federal bench in Los Angeles.

WASHINGTON - White-collar defense attorney Michael W. Fitzgerald sailed through the Senate Judiciary Committee on a voice vote Thursday, putting him one step away from joining the federal bench in Los Angeles.

Fitzgerald, a former federal attorney practicing at Corbin, Fitzgerald & Athey LLP in Los Angeles, is poised to become the first openly gay judge in California confirmed by the Senate.
