President Barack Obama on Wednesday nominated an Arizona Supreme Court justice to serve on the 9th Circuit.
Andrew David Hurwitz is currently the state's high court vice chief justice after joining the bench in 2003. If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Hurwitz, 64, will fill the seat to be vacated by Circuit Judge Mary M. Schroeder, who will take senior status Jan. 1.
