Brown signs maternity care bills

Gov. Jerry Brown on Thursday signed two bills requiring individual and small group health plans to provide insurance coverage for maternity care starting July 1, 2012.

Gov. Jerry Brown on Thursday signed Senate Bill 222 and Assembly Bill 210, which require individual and small group health plans to provide insurance coverage for maternity care starting July 1, 2012 -- two years before a similar requirement in last year?s federal health care reform bill takes effect.
