Orange County Superior Court's second longest sitting judge to retire

Judge Barbara Tam Nomoto Schumann started at the Orange County Superior Court in 1997 after working as a municipal judge for 18 years. She was the first Asian-American woman to join the county's bench.

SANTA ANA - Judge Barbara Tam Nomoto Schumann always had a full schedule on the bench and will have an equally busy calendar when she retires.


The second-longest sitting judge on the Orange County Superior Court, Schumann has a long to-do list when she steps down from the bench on Jan. 18, including learning ukulele and Japanese flute.
