Nearly 60 percent of applicants passed the July 2013 General Bar Examination, State Bar officials reported Monday. Of the 8,900 applicants who took the exam, 74.6 percent were first-time takers. The passing rate for the 6,636 first-time applicants was 68 percent. The passing rate for the 2,264 applicants repeating the examination was 21 percent.
