Justice Powell Wins Judicial-Bias Oscar for 'Roe v. Wade'

Forum Column - By Philip A. Rafferty - Justice Lewis F. Powell, after retiring from the Supreme Court, admitted to Nina Totenberg not only that he entered into the Roe v. Wade decision-making process with a pro-abortion bias but also that this bias compromised his impartiality because it "strongly influenced" how he voted there. What is more, Powell engaged in judicial deceit by concealing this "strong bias" from the Roe litigants.
