Guilty Plea Causes Quandary

SAN FRANCISCO - Glenn Taylor Helzer, one of two brothers accused in a series of gruesome Bay Area murders, entered a surprise guilty plea last week, leaving only his sentence for a jury to decide. But Helzer's demand to have his sentence decided before his brother's trial begins has created a quagmire of legal issues that a judge will attempt to slog through today.
